Seminar on optimal transport

Optimal transport goes back to a classical problem by Monge and Kantorovich, which asks for the best way to transform a given initial distribution (e.g. of economic goods) into some required final distribution. This topic has developed into a theory with links to analysis, geometry, physics and economy. During the seminar, the foundations of this theory will be developed and some applications will be discussed.
