K-theory and super symmetric field theories

We'll explain how a super symmetric version of an Atiyah-Segal type field theory leads to K-theory. The index theorem then translates into the fact that `path integral quantization' gives a push-forward in K-theory. This is a report on joint work with Stephan Stolz.
