Skew torsion in geometry and physics

Three-form flux appears naturally in many of the equations of string theory and supergravity. Since the work of Bismut 20 years ago it has also played a role in the differential geometry of complex manifolds. The lecture will review some of the special geometric features revealed by the presence of skew torsion and discuss its natural appearance when studying holomorphic Poisson manifolds.
