Rigidity of conformal functionals on spheres

The regularized zeta function determinant of an
elliptic operator on a compact manifold is an interesting
spectral invariant, which has been studied in connection
with both conformal geometry and string theory. In this
lecture we consider this and other functionals as functions
on the space of all smooth metrics and give some results
on the nature of critical points for the case of the standard
sphere. This is joint work with Niels Martin Møller.
